Naya Marie Rivera was an American actress, singer, and model. She began her career as a child actress and model, first appearing in national television commercials. She had her first acting opportunity at four years old on the TV series ‘The Royal Family’ and also appeared in an episode of ‘This Is How I Made It With Chris Brown” in 2012. She has been a part of the film Frankenhood however, it was recognized as Naya Maria Rivera in this film. She has also been a part of Omarion in the 2002 music video for B2K’s song “Why I Love You”. She featured in various listings of the country’s most attractive people, including, FHM’s ‘World’s Sexiest Woman’ list, People en Español ‘50 Most Beautiful’ and thrice in Maxim ‘Hot 100’ list. She was ranked #1 in the 2012 AfterEllen Hot 100 list and #37 in the Men’s Health Hottest Women of 2014. In 2015, Rivera portrayed the recurring role of Blanca Alvarez for the third season of Lifetime’s drama series ‘Devious Maids’. On July 8, 2020, Rivera drowned at Lake Piru, near Santa Clarita, California, while swimming with her four-year-old son Josey, who was found alone on their rented boat. Her body was recovered from the lake on the morning of July 13, following a five-day search. At the time of her death, she was between seasons of the television series Step Up, in which she played the female lead, Collette Jones.
In 2019, it had been reported that the comic Batman: The Long Halloween was being adapted into a two-part animated movie for DC Universe Animated Original Movies, with Rivera voicing Catwoman. The first part is to be released in 2021.
